Enhancing Health and Well-Being
Vision
To create a healthier and happier UK community through the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong, fostering physical well-being, mental peace, and social connection.
Mission
Pop Up Tai Chi is dedicated to promoting good health and well-being by providing accessible Tai Chi and Qigong events across the UK. We aim to educate and empower individuals to lead active, balanced lifestyles, enhancing their mental and physical health through the benefits of these ancient practices.
Activities
Pop Up Tai Chi delivers a range of movement, breath and energy-work activities including community Tai Chi and Qigong classes, workshops, and events both in-person and online. We also organise pop-up sessions at local health and wellness centres, outdoor spaces, and community festivals, offering inclusive and accessible opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate.
Benefits
The activities offered by Pop Up Tai Chi provide numerous benefits, such as improving physical health through gentle, low-impact exercise, enhancing mental well-being by reducing stress and anxiety, and fostering a sense of community and social connection. Participants often experience increased flexibility, better balance, enhanced relaxation, and overall improved quality of life.
In 2020-2021, Pop Up Tai Chi successfully delivered the " Pop Up Tai Chi Zoom Sessions " project, supporting over 1,100 participants through online Tai Chi, dance, and yoga sessions. These activities provided crucial mental and physical health benefits, particularly for those experiencing anxiety, depression, and the effects of COVID-19. The project, praised by 97% of participants for positively impacting their well-being, also aided frontline NHS workers, carers, and key workers, highlighting the importance of maintaining mental health and fostering a sense of community during challenging times.
In 2019-2020, Pop Up Tai Chi successfully delivered the "Pop Up Tai Chi for HEALTH and WELLTH" project, hosting 30 community-based Tai Chi events in accessible indoor and outdoor venues across London. These events, complemented by yoga, pilates, and dance sessions, engaged culturally diverse individuals, many of whom experienced loneliness and mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression. The project evaluation demonstrated that participants benefited from improved mental and physical health, social interaction, and a supportive environment promoting self-care and well-being.
